I spent 2 days volunteering at Rowdy Girl Sanctuary in Angelton, Texas.

I feel like these days here I got a real sense about what life and work would be like on a farm. Which is meant as a good thing! I am excited to experience exactly how these people run the sanctuaries and exactly what it takes.

I am no stranger to hard work, having a past of EMS and firefighting and all. But, boy, it got tough at times! Since they are a relatively new sanctuary, there are many improvements happening. I spend a good chunk of both day spreading mulch ... which doesn't sound too difficult but it got very tiring, and the blisters I still have on my hands are the my souvenir lol. Besides that large job, I assisted with daily chores including my favorite ... feeding! The animals here are so much more like pets than I have seen at other farm sanctuaries. They come when they are called and I was able to experience the beauty first hand. Make sure you take a look at my sanctuary spotlight coming later and my other photos on instagram too. I am looking forward to my next visit to say hi to the animals and see the different changes and improvements!
