I walked through the gate of Journey's End Sanctuary and was emmediately greeting by a dozen dogs who tried to lick me to death. Some were in parapalegic, some blind ... all crazy adorable! Florence and a dedicated team of 4 employees and many volunteers work tirelessly every day to create a loving forever home for many disabled animals. From cats and dogs to horses and pigs, this place is nothing short of a haven.

I spent 4 days there with one mission I was asked to do: spend time and love the animals. Quite a tough assignment! The reasoning is the employees are so busy with cleaning, feeding and other chores, they don't usually have time to stop and sit with the animals. Which is why volunteers are so critical! These animals have had a neglectful past so they need as much love as they can get! This video clip is one of the many happy ending rescue stories. I got to meet Pops who was used as a bait dog. He can not be any sweeter though!

Journey's End does need a lot of help though. Being a non profit, times can get very hard with all the need out there. Florence is called so often about rescues that she has to turn most away and only take the more dire cases. They need work done on the sanctuary, expansion to create better living arrangements for the animals, volunteers daily to spend time with the animals ... and much more!

I did as much as I could during my time there and left them with a food/supplies drive that will continue through the end of March. That way I do not leave them empty handed. And with my blog I am hoping to give them more exposure to bring in more volunteers, which is the most important part!
